I noticed that all applications that use notifications, Facebook, whatsapp and the like, will poll very often for new messages and thus consume the battery faster.

The mobile phone network quality can also play an important role in power usage. If you're in an area with poor coverage, the phone will have to boost the signal to establish connection, using more juice.

The only reason I can think to make that happen(for it to discharge quicker than before, that is), would be if there is a connection which is at least somewhat looser than before. You can either deal with it, or open up the device, check all connections and screws, to be sure all is connected, tight and as it should be.

Not a fix but a way to conserve power until fixed is too dim brightness of the screen to low to off.

'''FIRST WE HAVE TO CHECK RESISTANCE BETWEEN +VE &-VE OF BATTERY CONNECTOR , IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 300 TO 700 OHM & OTHER DIRECTION GIVES INFINITY- IF LESS THAN , WE SHOULD CLEAN BOARD AND DRY WELL, ALSO WE HAVE TO POWER ON MOBILE USING REGULATING POWER SUPPLY , NORMALLY WE SHOULD HAVE POWER CONSUMPTION BETWEEN 0.18 TO 0.25 AMPERE , IF MORE IT MEANS OVER CURRENT , MEANS MAY BE POWER AMPLIFIER , AUDIO AMPLIFIER, LIGHT DRIVER , ETC

ALSO MAY BE WE OPEN MUCH APPLICATION ESPECIALLY BLUETOOTH OR WLAN

ALSO WE HAVE TO CHECK IF MEMORY CARD HAS SOME KIND OF VIRUS

WE HAVE MANY REASONS , BUT THIS IS THE TIME OF SLEEP ......'italic text''

phone screens usually use up around 75% of all power unless the screen is off and doing background processes.

Go into the developer options in the setup menu.

There is a setting that tells the phone to stop all applications once you close the app.

It helps extend the battery life.

The screen should almost always be the number one thing that uses the battery if their is one that beats it, that might mean an app is always open in the background. Also their some apps that don't really get along with some devices, is their any new apps you might have downloaded recently since the problem occurred?

The screen of you changes do not fit your Galaxy S3. the consumption more big than your battery support.
