I cannot start up as it keeps on trying to install

I downloaded Mountain Lion OS/X from the app store and on trying to install it it is telling me that my hard disk is damaged and it cannot install. I have tried to to restart with leopard CD but it still goes to the same thing of tring to install mountain lion. I therefore cannot get in to the hard drive nor start up from CD system.

It keeps on telling me that my hard drive is damaged.

Any suggestions?

Ouch! I hope you made a backup of your app's & data ;-{{

Do you have an external HD (firewire being best) or a sizable USB flash drive that you can install Leopard on to? If you can try that first and see if you can boot under it to salvage your apps and data onto the HD or USB thumb drives if it's not to late.

At this point theres not much you can do here other than reformat and partition your hard drive if you can. You may have a bad HD.
