If the only issue is the Ethernet port or modem is dead you can replace them. The Modem you can replace from MacPro.com for about $30

The ethernet port you can install a third party card in one of the slots for about the same. The one I use is a D-Link DFE-530TX+ Card and cost me about $35. But here is one for $15 :

It is Mac OS X Compatible and saves from having to replace mother board. Easy install on both parts.
Good luck

Well, your ethernet board could have been fried, that's a common problem.
Unfortunately, the part is hard to find, so chck some of the links mactech posted and also search ebay, amazon, etc.
A workaround is to get a USB to ethernet adapter. You plug this right into a USB port and you have an ethernet port.

I don't think the Quicksilver has USB2 ports. Ralph
Good point, but there are some USB 1.0 to ethernet adapters out there. Also, a USB1.0 to 2.0 adapter connected to a USB2.0 to ethernet would work.
Yes the computer turns on and you can use and open files on it but you cant connect to the internet. I was told I would maybe need an new ethernet card but need a cheap quick fix. Thanks

Look at the D-Link one I posted above. It is cheap and all you have to do is order it, load the software and your back up. Good luck
