Replace fan or lubricate the bearing?

My Late 2008 MBP is starting to show age and the right fan is making more noise as of late. I replaced it sometime last year and was wondering if I need to do it again or if adding WD-40 to the inside of the fan would be a better and cheaper option?

I wouldn't put any lube (or anywhere inside) on the bearing as it would likely spray all over the place causing other problems as well as act as a dust magnet.

I would take a soft brush and can'ed air and clean the blades and the heat sink grill of all of the dust buildup. I would also get the dust buildup on the logic board as well.

Once things were clean I would see if the fan was still having problems. I would try putting some isopropyl alcohol on the bearing (just a small drop) to clean it. If that still didn't help it's time for a new fan.
