How come I am getting bad Cellular signal after replacing my screen?

Okay so i bought a new screen for my iPhone 4S and I replaced it successfully. My only problem now is the Carrier Network (AT&T) is not working well at all. Like i get a call failed a lot of times and the internet doesn't always load a webpage and says cannot activate cellular network. Sometimes a person cannot hear me if i get a call through but i can use an app over wifi and they hear me just fine so its not the microphone. I did have an issue when replacing the screen. The top screw on the battery connector shield got forged (stripped I could not take it off using a screwdriver). I had to use a drill bit and drill the head off because it would not come out. Now I don't have a shield over the cellular antenna because the bottom half of the screw is still on the motherboard. Could this be causing this issue or is it possible the antenna wire shorted out during this process? Everything else on the iPhone 4S works great so I do not believe its a motherboard problem. Thanks for any help given in advance!

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem.

I replaced the front and back panel on my 4S and i do not get any signal at all since i finished.

I did not find any solutions and everthing seem to be fixed like it should be.

I'm kind of lost....

I think i start again step by step....

Did you find a picture how the whole antenna thing should look like once properly installed?

Check the all antenna connections and cables.

I can say that the connector on the motherboard for the antenna is very easily damaged or bent. I would unplug the antenna and examine the connector and the board to make sure everything is perfectly round and nothing is broken loose. if anything is bent or mishaped, you can usually try and VERY easily/gently bend it back with a plastic tool.

It is also possible that the metal shavings from the drilling of the screw have gotten down into the connector and are shorting it out in a manner that reduces the signal quality. Use some canned air to blow everything out really well.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I did just buy another antenna just in case because they say that you can get oil from your hands on things and mess things up, it was like $5 so no big deal. This time ill use some gloves non powder etc., when workin on the fix and use some cleaning solutions on the connectors to make sure nothing interferes and that I'm extremely careful with the cable so as to not short it out and use my can of air to spray the iPhone out thanks for the suggestions ill let you know ASAP if it fixes the issue! Antenna should be delivered by tomorrow.

For the most part it seems to be good but the signal is not great as it used to be but I can still call out and get online. Hmm, I had to put electrical tape over the antenna so it doesn't touch the shield.
