After 9 beep code try firmware restore. Power, no beeps, black screen.

Hi there.

This unit had a crash two years ago. The front glass was broken and that was all.

One week ago would start emiting three short, three long, three short beeps.

Before looking on the web, I went to apple service and without even looking at it, they advised a logic board replacement for 800€.

Reading on another forum a user would advise a cpu replacement. Since I found a cheap C2D on internet, I started dismounting the iMac.

I've been searching on this forum and that code turn out to be a bad firmware update, so I aborted the cpu replacement (wich I'm still waiting) and tryed to restore the firmware by using Apple's Firmware Restore CD1.6.

When I reassembled the unit, I put the cd in straight before powering it up. I powered up the unit, and the beeps were gone! But no video on the screen. At that point I thought any LCD connector might be loose or I did something wrong with the inverter, but everything seems to be ok.

I tried to remove the RAM to see if the logic board would beep. It did, 1 beep for "no ram installed"

Also found the led diagnose for 2007 models. Leds 1,2,3 are on while the computer is working. Led 4 is not working.

In another post I found:

''LED 4

Indicates that the computer and the LCD display panel are communicating. This LED will be • ON when the computer is turned on and video signal is being generated. If the LED is ON and there is no image on the LCD display panel, the LCD display panel or inverter might be installed incorrectly or need replacement.''

Would that need there's something wrong with my video card?

Also a last thing. It does not emit the typical apple chime at the beginning.

Is this still a logic board issue? Could anybody help to diagnose?
