Why I am getting file shape and question mark in it

When i am turning on my MacBook it appears on the screen kind of folder photo and question mark on it ? any one can help me with . your cooperation is highly aapreciated

Options

A common failure. Your computer can't find a bootable drive. Try booting with your OS disk by holding down the C key when booting. If successful don't reinstall but select utilities/disk repair and run disk repair until it comes back no trouble found. If you are unable to do this you may have to reinstall the OS. Ralph
