i have the above model i have change my hard disk from 80 GB 5400 rpm 1.5 Gbps to 80GB 7200 rpm 3Gbps hardisk. after changing my harddisk it runs , but aftre sometime it turned off without showing any message. i need help because its switched off as i start the working. shoud i installed 80GB 5400 rpm hard disk so that it will run smoothly .

Not to worry the speed (RPM) or the size of the drive (GB size) have no bearing here. Other than making sure the drive physically fits in it the system.
What you do have to watch out for is what SATA standard the system supports and the drives ability to run at that SATA standard. In this case you should first make sure your system has the latest EFI Firmware. As some systems can support the faster SATA III (3.0 MB/s) data rate. If not, you'll need to locate the jumper on the HD to lower the data rate to SATA II (1.5 MB/s).

it is a laptop hard disk so there is no jumper setting as per my knowledge. if it is there please give me the image for setting the jumper of laptop hard disk, second thing is that, is there any software that change the speed of the data rate from 3 GBPS TO 1.5 GBPS. Your above answer is very helpfull for me thanks in advance and please help me for this jumper setting or through software control for the data rate speed.
The Jumper is on the disk drive. You will need to look on the drive for a label which tells you what to alter or you need to look at the documentation that came with your drive or lastly, look up the model on the on the manufactures web site. The EFI firmware is so the system can support the higher speed if it can, please check this first.
