Dropped my MacBook and now it will not charge the battery WHY?

I tripped over a cord and pulled my MacBook off of my desk. It landed directly on its screen and got cracked all to $&#@. I just replaced it and its working fine but i noticed that it will not charge and it will not run off the battery. It will only run off the wall plug and when removed immediately shuts off. I remember after breaking the screen before putting it away pressing the button on the battery and it lighting up to about the middle or whereever it was charged to. Now it will not do anything. What do I do? Do I need a new logic board? Do I just need a new battery? I just bought this new screen and am broke. Please help

Could you try your battery on another MacBook and check if it's still working ? If so the problem could be related to the battery connector or to the logic board. Did you check in the system profiler if the battery was recognised by the computer ? If you live near an Apple Store you could go there and ask a genius to check the battery.
