compatibility of lock switch & repair problem question

Is the '''iPod Classic (Thin) Headphone Jack & Hold Switch Product code: IF130-001 (632-0371''') compatible with a 6th generation 160GB "FAT" iPod cause the (632-0373) part for it is not available from your iPod parts list and i was wondering if i can use that instead?

when i attached d faceplate part with the metal frame work the click wheel was in place but for some reason it wasnt making good contact cause when when i need to press the any of the buttons i have to press further out or further in for the action desired to take place example: i press the menu button to go back and it goes forward as if i pressed the center button instead what could be the cause?
