faulty DV6 dead motherboard

I have a HP PAVILLION NOTEBOOK DV6-2010SA laptop does not turn on.

When you plug the laptop charger in to the laptop the white light comes on to indicate power. However when you press the on button there is no noise or lights (only the charger light one).

I guess faulty motherboard?

Any advice regarding a fix?

Before reballing I would replace the cmos battery in your computer. Usually a coin cell battery they can cause all sorts of problems when they go bad. This way you may avoid a procedure that could destroy your mother board. Here is a link to your service manual---the step you would need is chapter 4 page 62. As you can see this is a easy repair. Good luck.

Hi, if your laptop has a nvidia chip on it then most probably you need to reball the graphics chip, but there are alternatives to this, like baking the motherboard yourself. I have done this to my laptop (mine was a dv6000 model but I think it should be the same) and added a copper shim and has been running fine ever since. There are loads of videos on youtube to do this. Just providing a link to one of them,

BTW, I used the oven method for reflowing the solder. Hope this helps. Write back with your results. And be very careful if you follow this route. Good luck.
