Replacing an RF02 RF board with an RF01 RF board

I need to replace the RF02 RF board but I only have an RF01 RF board handy at the moment, will it still work?

If replacing an RF01 RF board, do I need an RF02 RF board?

I believe you'll need a matching board as a replacement, as most hardware on Xboxes are matched with the each other through software checks. (meaning you need to have the same id's on all hardware across the board(pun intended) if you wanted to replace the disc drive, you need to keep the old board and put it in the new drive, for example)
