The digitizer is a piece of technology that registers the touch input. It is located directly below the front sheet of glass. If you have the 2G iPhone, it is very hard to access, as the entire phone must be disassembled. If you have a 3G [S] iPhone, it is much easier to get to. You simply need to open the iPhone and pop the front display off.
