new battery but only 61% of power

hi

I changed my iPhone 2g battery today. After this process I was happy about a running iPhone :)

The only problem is that my battery still says that it has 61% of power. I tried to charge with the power supply and with usb on my mac, but it keep still standing up to 61%

do i have to do a complete restore to get the 100% of charge? or is there any way else to fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

One thing you may try, especially if the battery is new (as you said) is to let it run down all the way so it is completely empty and will not run, and then throw it on a charger and leave it alone until it hits (hopefully) 100%.

It's worth a shot.

EDIT: Another thing to try is resetting the phone settings. Other threads seem to have come across this as a solution when a physical battery calibration doesn't do the trick.
