Nonworking iBook. Want to transfer data on hard drive to new Mac

My old i book is non functioning. I was told to take out its hard drive. I want to transfer the data on the old hardrive to a new Mac. How is this done?

Options

You will need to open your iBook and remove the hard drive. Then, you will need an enclosure to connect it and transfer the data to the new mac.
