iPod touch (2nd Gen) screen problems.

Hi,

So after a few falls my screen has a few cracks. The "touch" part of the low part of the screen isn't working (which means i can't unlock the ipod by sliding the unlock button). If i understood correctly from what i've read, i need to change the digitizer as shown here

iPod Touch 2nd Generation Front Panel Replacement

My question is, would it work if i use this for example?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IPod-Touch-2nd...

The ipod is not in great shape(i also spilled some beer on it the other day :P ) could the hardware inside the ipod be damaged?

Thanks a lot

Sooo, the digitizer arrived, i managed to change it and everything works! The problem is that my plastic frame broke and my screen is kinda loose :P I have to buy a new frame i guess..

One question though, about the home button. The digitizer i bought didn't have a home button,so for now i just put the piece with the home button of my old frame. If i buy a new frame, will i be able to put the home button? Can i buy just the frame,or it comes only with a digitizer? Or should i just put some "glue" to hold the screen in place?

Thanks again a LOT,i never though i would see my ipod fully working:P

All those questions are depending on where you purchase it, and what the seller offers. I always try to get a panel as complete as possible. It is time saving and a lot easier. So, do some good searching and see what the individual sellers offer.

John, start by replacing the digitizer. If only a certain section is unresponsive, it is very likely that it is the digitizer that has failed. Yes, the part you listed will work. Remember the iPod is a bit of a PITA to work on. Follow the guides, and clean your iPod with isopropyl alcohol to remove the beer stains ;) Hope this helps, good luck.
