What is the 3M tape for that came with my kit?

Hi I have just ordered a new front screen for my iPhone 4 off a different website and it comes with some stickers, i believe their called '3M tape'. I have watched plenty of tutorials including this one on iFixit and I can't seem to figure out what the heck those things are for.

Does any one know?

Options

When you remove the LCD/Digitizer from the frame it is secured with 3M tape. You should remove the existing tape and replace it with that is in your kit. IMO it is optional, but never a bad thing to have more things holding your phone together.
