only works when plugged in
my iphone 4 works when i plug it in the wall but as soon as i unpluge it the phone shuts off

willytorres, that most certainly sounds like a bad battery. Just to make sure, clean your dock connector with some isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs of compressed air. If that does not help, replace the battery. Here isthe guide and the battery is available right here. Hope this helps, good luck.

Before you purchase anything, make sure it is really needed! First remove the back glass and you will find the battery and near the bottom left of it is the connector. Make sure it is making a clear connection
