Why do I have to heat up my car too...

everytime my car cools down or like next day i drive it i need to heat it up. Because if i dont then my car wil lose power or like the gas will stop nd i have to let go of the gas peddal nd step on it again. And i will have to do this for a few times until the car heats up or something. When heating up my car i have to wait until the car rmps drop below zero nd the car starts shaking like rattleing for a few seconds nd then it accelerates itself to like three rpms nd then im ready to go nd i can drive my car normal. I hope i explained myself good. 98 honda accord.

Does your service engine light come on? Have you checked your vacuum lines for leaks etc.? Have you pulled your spark plugs out and taken a look at the face? Are the oily, wet appearing, brown and dry, or glazed appearing?

Stacey Drenan, those symptoms can be caused by a multitude of components like these:

Valve adjustment

Incorrect ignition timing,

Vacuum leaks

Bad ignition wires

Incorrect idle speed

Cold Start Injector always "ON"

Bad Oxygen Sensor.

and many more things. I suggest that you get the car hooked up to an analyzer and see if you get any OBD error codes. Otherwise, you might just start replacing parts at random, which could become expensive. Try places like Pepboys, Autozone etc. most of them offer a free engine analysis.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi, if I was you, I would stay away from Pep Boys/Firestone Stores, try Napa or Midas

Have you tried putting some Gum-Out or other injection cleaner in to your fuel tank? Often problems like this are related to junk build up in the fuel filters, fuel pump, or injectors. Try a couple of tank full's of gas with the cleaner, if that doesn't do it you may need to have the fuel filters (both), fuel pump and/or injectors replaced.
