Why do I have thin white horizontal lines on my screen?

I suddenly have thin white lines running across the entire screen, they occur in three larger bands of differing density (some areas have more lines then others.) Sometimes they go away and the screen is clear, but they are there more often than not. The screen quality is pretty bad when the lines are there, but not illegible. How do I fix this?

Try connecting your system to an external monitor if the lines show up on the external your GPU needs to be replaced. If you don't you could have a bad display cable and/or display. See if flexing the display (slightly!) side to side or top to bottom causes it to get worse or better. If it does the display needs to be replaced.

Something like this happened to one of my phones. It was caused from putting pressure on the screen. (It was put in a back pocket a lot of the time.) Not sure how to fix it though. Sorry. Good luck.
