Also, sometimes connecting to a wall charger instead of a USB cable will fix the problem.

Were it me, I'd probably try connecting it to the computer with the Apple-supplied USB cable. With this method, you are able to eliminate the variables of a bad wall charger and a bad USB cable. However, if it still doesn't charge even on Apple's cable, I'd take a look at the cable itself- I've had two or three get frayed open near the connectors, preventing the iPod from either charging or syncing- sometimes, both.

If the cable seems fine, you may be looking at either:

1)Dead battery, as others have suggested

2)Problematic docking connector.

To lessen the possibility of the second, I'd try jiggling the cable near the docking port. Sometimes, the connectors inside can be moved from their place ever so slightly- all it takes is two out of whack pins to prevent charging.

Of course, if it's still under warranty, there's always the option of taking it to Apple...

Re: Wall chargers.

Older Wall chargers use the Firewire voltage (something like 9-18VDC)charge port that was discontinued on 4th gen and higher Nanos .

Even though none of the Nanos use Firewire, generations 1 thru 3 can still be charged this way.

All chargers for the 4th gen, wall, car or PC USB use the same voltage of 5VDC, hence they make no difference on this model of Nano.

mark, the best you can do is to ask your own question. Click on the link "ask a question" and give as much information as possible. Like, what happened, what device you have, and what you did so far to repair it. This question here is old and nobody will see that you need help with your device. Good luck.
