Installed Core 2 Duo now no power. Back to original works fine

I have just tried for the second time to upgrade my Core Duo iMac 20" to Core 2 Duo using a

When I try to turn the machine it the power light blinks on for a few seconds, then all power is lost.

I have tried a T7500 and an E8135

I can put the original processor back in, and everything works fine.

I have tried this with 2 new processors but the same issue each time. And original Core Duo works fine.

Any thoughts please ?

I don't see where a T7500 was ever used in an iMac. Try a T7200, T7400 or T7600. I've used all of those and they worked.

Mayer, thanks for the feedback.

What I have done is simply taken those models off the Intel list rather than checking what models have been used in an iMac. I didn't realize CPU's were motherboard specific. Looks like I'll be selling these on eBay...
