volume buttons and sound on/off not working.

I replaced my moms iPhone 4 screen and now the volume buttons and silent on/off button stopped working.

I thought maybe it was the headphone jack and volume control cable but the headphone jack is still working.

Could the cable still be bad even though the headphone jack is still working?

I have already tried to restore and hard reset it. so it must be a hardware problem.

Let me know which part it is i would need to order.

Thank you so much for you help :-)

Maybe the Flex connector is not perfectly snapped down on the Logic Board Connector. May be worthwhile to retrace your steps and try to reconnect that connector.

And, yes, multifunction Flex cables can have damage to individual functions.

The volume flex is not attached to the power button on the iphone 4 it is volume mute headphone jack Power is attached to the proximity sensor / noise cancelling microphone. You probably do need to replace it though. Puru is referring to the 3g/3gs.

You just happened to cut/tear it during assembly. Replace it. It is also connected to the power switch so have to replace it as entire set. It's a single part and won't cost much.
