Internal sound not working.

I have tried everything but im having no joy. Sound plays ok through headphones but soon as i unplug them I get NO sound coming from the built in internal speakers.

Please Help.

Could you boot the MacBook from an external source to verify if the problem is hardware or software issue ? Check the headphones port with a flashlight. What is the system preferences -> sound panel -> output status ? Also, repairing permissions can sometimes fix a sound problem.

Two possibilities come to mind. 1. The speaker connection to the logic board is faulty or 2. the headphone jack has a problem and is not connecting the speakers when you remove the headphones. You can try looking at the jack without removing the top cover but I suspect you will need to take it apart. Ralph

With a broken tip inside the sound port the OP would have no heaphones sound and he says that << sound plays ok through headphones>>.
