Froze at end of song won't reset

Original iPod was playing along in car while powered with adaptor when it froze. Does not respond to reset. Screen displays "now playing" and shows song title and indicates end of song. Had recently completed sync and battery charge on iMac.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Try to restore with iTunes and see if that changes anything.

Update - screen went blank on its own. Tried menu/play reset and get battery with triangle/exclamation point image. Going to connect to iMac to recharge/reset.

Let us know what happens.Sounds a bit like a stuck HDD...

It showed up in iTunes and I did a restore. I'm letting it recharge now before I sync it. What's an HDD? Thanks for your interest.

FF90, the "smacking" may work sometimes, but is at best a temporary fix. It may free a stuck drive, but the drive should be backed up and replaced for a permanent fix. You should always let people know why you want them to do certain things.....

true, just trying to help

I know, and I thought about the same thing. Just trying to help out by providing answers that the person who asks, understands why they should try something. It makes it easier for further trouble shooting etc. Yours is not a bad answer at all, just difficult for someone to understand, why they should smack their iPod. You may get "funny looks" :-)

lol yes i know the method is a little barbaric but sometimes it works and yes like you said, is only a temporary fix. I use this site at work so i tend to answer sometimes quickly cause i got a customer walking in.

You can actually put a larger capacity HDD in that unit, I replaced a 20 gb one that was bad with a 40 gb one from a Toshiba laptop that had a micro drive.
