wanna get a thin 160 gb drive for my 80 gb iPod

i can find a 160 gb drive that will fit perfectly into my ipod.but i am not sure that it will supported by the software since i've heard that the 2007 80 gb ipod will only support up to 120 gb of capacity.somebody have tried a bigger drive on it?

wudpeka, I know for sure that a 160 GB would fit without any problems since your model had that as an option (not sure where you heard the size limitation). Anything above that, you have to make sure that the physical size is the same and that it is a zif drive. Here is more detail. Make sure that the drive is an ATA drive. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

thanks for responding. but i kinda doubt whether the two 2007 ipod classic are identical except the capacity.just like some solid state drives can be read by the 80 gb ipod video are not supported by the thin one

How about letting us know which drive you are looking at. For as long as the interface and the connector are ZIF it should work. I have not had any trouble replacing a Classic drive with a 160GB or even a 240GB drive.

Your iPod is a Classic 6th or 7th gen?

Just checked the drive and there should be no compatibility issues.
