I tried this: I went into the Apple Store in my City and spoke to a lady from the Genius Bar showed her the problem by demonstration. I had just started it up so it was not totally unresponsive (the problem that gets progressively worse until it eventually becomes unusable), she noted the problem and said it will be replaced and the replacement will have a warranty of 3 months. I was not happy with that so phoned Apple and was told I would get a full year warranty as it would be a new item first user. I collect it tomorrow.

I
am hoping the new iPad Pro Cellular 12.9 2nd generation 500Gb that is to replace the faulty 8 months old iPad Pro will not have the same excruciating problem. It could be static as somebody has suggested. I have had a few shocks off of this iPad and tried grounding myself. The

The
problem it definitely linked to touching the outer rear casing and the screen surround when holding the iPad or if the touchscreen becomes unresponsive when on a flat surface a change of position can bring it back to life. Other times a restart does the job but not every time . Using

Using
the touch screen makes every job a long uncertain chore. I am thinking of selling the replacement and getting a 10 inch Pro. I was a fool to change to the 12.9“as it is nowhere near as good as the 10” in usability and comfort. It is too heavy.
