At this point I think you have no choice than to get a second system (buy or rent) so you can get what you need to get done.
 
Your data on your dead system is still safe! So if you can get your system fixed you’ll be OK. If your system can’t be repaired (given the location) you can take your SSD drive out and place it into a special USB case to then transfer your stuff over to another Mac system.
 
One of the problems when traveling is the cost and speed of the internet from where you are staying. In addition you can also have youyour info intercepted unless you use a VPN tunnel. Frankly, large documents, images and vids is not something you want to push to your own server resource back home. I would recommend you do get into the habit having a backup drive.
