iOS 12 seems to have helped for me.  I updated directly from the device and then I also performed an “erase all content and settings”.   I have also removed my screen protector and now use a soft plastic case instead of the hard plastic/magnetic cover case I was previously using.

So far everything seems to be good. I am enjoying iOS 12 and the freezing hasn’t been happening as often.  I’m not sure if I’m just getting use to the freezing, thus less frustrated when it occurs. Though up until this point, all has been well.

Only time will tell.
