first try a different pair of earphones. if that does not work then try to reset your phone because it can be a software issue.  I have actually had this happen to me before on a lg phone. i had to reset the phone. sometimes the updates can mess this up. hopefully it is a software thing because if the port is messed up then you have to replace the port.
