Autofocus in LiveView is much slower and much less precise compared to to autofocus through the viewfinder, and next to useless when shooting moving subjects.

The solution: When you want precise autofocus, do not use LiveView.

On the other hand, LiveView allows for reasonably precise manual focus using the focus magnifier, but this is only practically useful when you shoot stationary objects with the camera mounted on a tripod.
