6 month is short - but possible.

# if the bulbs are cheap ones - they can die faster
# i would check (or ask someone) the real voltage in the house (maybe there is something wrong)
# how often do you use the bulbs on a regular day ? 

the "starter" inside the bulb dies first - the more often you switch dem on, the faster they die - i had once a cfl bulb that was always on, i only switched it off 6 times in 7 years - another one was switched with a motion sensor - this one died after a few month
