Title:

iPhone not syncing after new dock connector installation

Text:

I have recently installed a new dock connector for my iPhone 4s. My iPhone was experiencing the "no sound bug" that happens when docking the device with a device such as a speaker system or car USB port. This was remedied after installing a new a dock connector that I purchased.

But now my iPhone will no longer sync, wired or wireless, nor show up in windows explorer (running Windows 7).

I have followed the advice here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538

I have had no success. I have tried multiple cables which I don't believe are the issues since they charge just fine.

As a test, I replaced the new dock connector with the old one and lo and behold, it connected to my PC and synced, but as mentioned before, it will not play sounds from the speaker, only headphones, ringer, and siri work with this bug apparently.

Has anyone discovered a solution besides the aforementioned for this?

It should also be important to note that the iphone does not show up in device manager AT ALL with the new dock connector. Not under Universal Serial Bus controllers nor Imaging devices. There are no "Other Devices" or "Portable Devices" categories listed on my Device Manager.

Is it possible that I did not install the new dock connector correctly? If so, why then would it charge when plugged in but not show up in explorer? During the replacement of the new dock connector back to the old one, I noticed that the home button cable appeared slightly loose, but this was due to the new dock connector cable being poorly manufactured because the latch does not sit symmetrical on the cable. Do I simply need to purchase a newer dock connector? If so, does anyone know where to buy OEM iPhone parts because I suspect this is largely the problem at hand.

Thanks for any feedback you can supply.
