prestonpbarker, if you suspect corrosion underneath the EMI shields, you will have to remove the shields. Soaking it in alcohol will not do anything by itself. Remove the shields, yes, use a heat gun with a small nozzle (or even better a hot air rework station) if you have experience with that. Be careful not to heat and/ or melt other components. Once you remove the shields, use '''sterile''' water and a soft brush to clean your board. You may have to do it a couple of times. Then you use 90% plus isopropyl alcohol to clean the board of the water.
