iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: Ipad not turning on; stuck in charging symbol during ios 11 update

Hello friends,

Yesterday morning, I have to experience a weird behavior of my ipad mini2. Day before yesterday night my ipad mini 2 was at 12% charge and I was trying to install the ios 11 (developer beta version), the download of the software happened in less than 10 mins and since my ipad was connected to a wall adapter, the system allowed to install the software (even though the charge is 12% but still connected to wall adapter).

I was seeing that the update was taking almost 20 mins with the progress bar showing the loading. I fell asleep and woke up after 4 hours to see that my ipad was showing an apple logo and was bit hot. (Not too hot rather).

After that I removed the cable and it showed me the connected to charger logo!!!

Looked like battery drained, but I connected to the charger and the ipad was showing that the device is charging (black screen with battery icon in middle with red line at the base of the battery icon - the screen before the ipad starts)

After 15 to 20 mins, the apple logo is appearing and AND STUCK AT THAT LEVEL AND MAKING THE DEVICE LITTLE HOT AS IT PROGRESSES and when removed, it is coming back to the connect to charger logo...

I do not want to have it charged for a very long time since not sure if it might affect the battery. I left the device untouched for a day and I even tried performing the above cases today morning and it is still the same.

I guess it should not be a hardware issue since, charging an ipad for 4 hours with device stuck at apple logo continuously (due to update interruption) should not affect the battery or charging IC for such a branded product like apple.

I cannot do DFU/Restore or do anything now since if I connect the device to macbook, it is showing the charging symbol in the ipad (black screen with battery icon in middle with red line at the base of the battery icon) and itunes and the mac is not detecting the device.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME TO GET BACK MY IPAD TO WORKING CONDITION PLEASE?

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: White Vertical Lines on the screen

My iPad was given to me last summer of 2014. Today, its been 3 years and still alive. No dents, or even a crack. But then last month when I woke up, the screen of my iPad just had some vertical white lines all over the screen! I don't know what to do. It just doesn't go away. When I use it in full brightness then make the iPad so hot, I lock it and open it up and the white lines are gone but when the iPad cools down and I would put down the brightness, the white lines would flash back again. What do I do now? Is it an LCD issue? I just recently bought a replacement LCD from iFixit and its on its way. I wish that would solve the problem.

Did I make the right choice? Any suggestions? A reply would definitely help me a lot.

My iPad has been dropped multiple times in the past 3 years or so, although none of them has cause any kind of significant damage, until some time ago, my my iPad would suddenly has thin lines on the screen and experience some kind of image persistence. Most of the time, it was fixed when I restarted it, so I hadn't paid any attention to it. I thought it was a software glitch.

Yesterday, while playing games, it did this, but now, even when I restarted it, when I erased all settings, and even tapped on the back mltiple times, the lines didnt go away, although there is no more image persistence.

Everything works well, no lag, no bug, touch works fine, I can still play games or watch videos, the only problem are those lines.

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: Digitizer random touch after replacement

My iPad Mini 2 was working fine but had a cracked glass. I replaced the digitizer. Then it started random touches, opens apps, closes, swipes etc. all by itself. I thought this was a bad digitizer so I changed it but with no better result. This happens even if I have not attached the digitizer to the frame (only cable attached) so there can not be any problems with the contacts on the bottom. I put capton tape on all the visible contacts on the bottom of the digitizer and on the contact.

The digitizer is also sometimes completely unresponsive. Suddenly it responds to touch then.

I cleaned the contacts, restored the iPad in iTunes. Nothing helps. Any ideas?

Update

Yes Brian and Jessa you were right. Wish I had read this before. I don't think I am the first one doing this wrong. I bought a new digitizer (third one) and followed the cable instructions very carefully. It works. This is really a delicate cable and this should be the first big warning before trying this repair. I have learned something and that is great! Some lessons cost more than others... :-) Hope you see my picture how the cable should be. Attach the top of the screen, THEN fold in the cable, THEN remove the adhesive from the bottom before closing it up.

iPad Mini 2: Will the LCD from iPad mini 1 work on iPad mini 2?

Hi guys,

you guys always do an awesome job, keep up the great work!

So I've been having issues with eye strain when I use retina displays. It seems the higher the pixel density is, the worse it gets.

To remedy this, I was thinking about switching out the retina display in my ipad mini 2 with the non retina and considerably lower pixel density lcd from an iPad mini 1 I have.

I would just use the ipad mini 1 but I want the processing power of the a7 that's in the ipad mini 2. So I would like to try this hack and make a franken ipad mini 2 with regular display to have the 'best of both' so to speak.

so my question is, would replacing the retina display in the ipad mini 2 with the regular display in the ipad mini 1 work? are the digitizers/connections the same? WDYT?

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

iPad Mini 2: Lots of vertical lines and then screen went white. Bad LCD?

I'm trying to diagnose a iPad mini 2. My son brought me his iPad with the screen showing lots of multicolored vertical lines. I could still see the background and apps and could still use the iPad normally despite difficulty seeing full detail because of the lines. He said maybe he had dropped it but there was no obvious damage to the outside.

This lasted maybe half a day before the screen went completely white. It seems like everything was working normally but whenever the screen was activated with the home button or if I restarted it the screen would glow white as if working normally, but no image.

My first guess was a dislodged display connector so I tried tapping the back and corners of the case. This didn't seem to do anything. I'm a glutton for punishment so next I decided to visually check the connectors and disassembled the screen to see if something came loose. After re-fitting the cables though the iPad appears to behave the same way. No improvement and nothing obviously loose or damaged.

Now I'm wondering is this a failing LCD screen or some other problem? This doesn't seem like the usual "white screen of death". I'd love any help or ideas!

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: Is there anyway to remove Icloud Lock For free?

So basically my grandmother gave us her old iPad mini 2, which she was locked out of because she could not remember her apple id or password, and she did not remember the phone number linked to it. We took it to apple and they said without a purchase receipt which we dont have, they cant unlock the device without proof of ownership. Since we dont know the apple id, phone number, or password, and dont have receipt, we have considered using a third party online tool, because there are reports of it actually working. So if anyone know if there is a completely free to download software, that will unlock my ipad for free, please let me know. I want to know if it is free and will it also unlock the whole device for free.

I've tried multiple LCD's and the exact same thing. Not sure what else could be wrong. I'm assuming it could be a fuse or resistor on the motherboard but I don't know which one or where to search for it. I'm assuming it's next to the flex connectors on the motherboard. If so how in the world do I test those? They're like the size of lint!

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: iPad Mini 2 won't turn on

Hi,

So I realize this post is a bit preemptive since I don't actually have the iPad in my hands yet but I bought a broken 32 gb iPad mini 2 wifi on ebay the other day, and I'm trying to come up with a plan of action on how to diagnose what's wrong with it and how I can fix it.

All I know about the iPad is that it doesn't turn on, not sure if anything happens when you plug it in because the seller didn't really answer my question when I asked (but I assume if it were to just vibrate a couple times without powering on it's just a loose battery cable as is the case with iPhones). However, if this is not the case, what should I be looking at next? Could it be a faulty battery, or something else? And how would I be able to tell? Finally, if nothing else appears to work and it's possible that the ipad is water damaged, could anything be done about that to fix it?

Thanks in advance

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: Accidentally replaced LCD digitizer without removing battery first

Hello,

I was wondering what I can do to power on my ipad mini 2 after I have replaced the LCD digitizer without removing the battery flex cable first? I read on the forum that you are supposed to put the battery cable on last after placing the LCD digitizer cable.

Also read that I may have to replace the fuse, which I'm not quite sure where it is located.

As of right now, the ipad is recognized on my laptop but, it doesn't power on.

iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi: Why won't my iPad turn on?

Since my iPad turned itself off, while I was using it, I’ve tried resetting it and connecting to computer- neither have helped. When I hold in power and home button the logo screen flickers on, for varying amounts of time and sometimes with part of the screen darker then the rest, and then turns off again before the lock screen.

Update: I managed to turn it on for a few moments, the screen was very dark except around the home button where it was lit up more- it then switched itself off again.
