Sony α6000: The camera switches modes /switch to view old photos with no input

My camera sometimes will switch to a different picture taking mode, for example from automatic to manual, or from aperture priority to program without me touching the dial. It also sometimes will switch to view old photos even while it is already recording video. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Along with loosening all of the other walls, I removed the left side panel (under the viewfinder) and a little yellow wire ribbon came out with it. I can’t even find the other end of the tear inside the camera. The tear occurs just after a right-angle bend in the cable. Also, I can’t determine how to detach the main golden wire ribbon from the lens (I’m attempting a lens replacement), despite removing several screws on a large, circular silver plate. The walls are not pulling apart very far in order to give me proper access. I don’t want to force it to the point of breaking something else.

The upwards button on the menu wheel (the one that says DISP) Is stuck pressed down, so it always scrolls up. And the button for the flash doesn't react at all

The jack where I plug in the USB cable is loose and does not seat tightly to the case or when a cable is plugged in. Result is that camera is rarely detected when plugged into computer USB jack. Does the whole motherboard need to come out in order to fix?

This isn’t actually about the camera itself, but I didn’t see an option for my actual problem.

I have a Neewer NW400s flash. The batteries were low, we changed the batteries, and now it refuses to turn on at all. We tried three pairs of AA batteries, but nothing will make it work. It was working perfectly fine before, and now, nothing.

Hi all,

My camera flap could not be closed properly only on the bottom section. Do anyone have any clear solution for this? I had checked if there’s any potential debris and find none as for now. I’m located in Malaysia and couldn’t find any repairer nearby. Hoping this could be solved as been using it for work. Thank you.

Hello, My handy cam won’t let me record.

when i press the REC button the camera says CLEANING TAPE.

Which means that it’s detecting a cleaning tape and not a regular tape.

but in my case it’s a regular tape. I can play video

but i only hear sound. i can see video for a split second if i pause and play again. when i can see video there a lot of noise you can barely see anything.

I put the camera in a plastic bag with rice and sealed it. Took out memory card and battery. Did it yesterday. Still has issues - it will turn in, but not off. Does not display images on memory card. How long should I wait it out? Can it be repaired?

Sony α6000: What's the best way to clean battery contacts with a Sony a6000?

Today I got a “for parts” off ebay and the seller stated that when he put in a Sony battery it would display: Batterie incompatible. Utiliser le mobèle correct. Then promptly turn off. I thought it might be an easy fix since I have had an issue with a few batteries I got off Amazon a few years ago. Neither battery would work in my nex-3n at the time. I looked up the issue with the batteries and found the identical batteries on a thread where fake batteries on dpreview:

With the “for parts” camera it doesn’t matter what working battery I put into it (Sony or Wasabi), it still displays the same incompatibility message. I have looked into this issue and what I have found out is that there’s a bad connection between the battery and battery contacts:

The CHARGE light on the battery charger flashes when charging the battery pack.

Cleaning battery/camera contacts and connectors etc.

I tried to clean the contacts with a dry paint brush and using same paint brush with rubbing alcohol and no matter what the camera still displays the same message. I have also thought of using a pencil eraser I have wondered if I have to replace the battery contacts, so I looked to find a take apart which I found on youtube:

Which shows what I may have to do to replace the battery contacts if I’m unsuccessful with cleaning the battery contacts.

I have a number of W-290’s and I would like to set them off simultaneously. Can I teardown the camera to the shutter button and solder wires to that shutter switch and drag them outside in some discreet way so that I can operate the shutter from a distance?
