Flashlight: Where can I get a battery holder for my Rayz LED Flashlight?

The only thing broken on this flashlight is the cheap-o metal part that makes contact with the battery. There is a 3-AAA battery holder the inserts inside the little flashlight.

The switch is a pushbutton on the bottom

I just need to replace the 3-AAA battery holder.

Where is a good source for these parts?

Flashlight: How to get at an end button switch

Some time ago I got a Qbeam 3 C-cell flashlight to keep in our Explorer. It was very rarely used, but the other day I noticed it was on just sitting in its spot in the rear pocket of the driver's seat. It looked like low beam, but the batteries were down only a little. On unscrewing the base I found corrosion just inside the tube and around the base's edge threads, and an apparent thin copper foil boot over the base's spring wasn't green but was in pieces. I cleaned out the corrosion and will treat the corroded areas with DeOxit, but in testing continuity on the base, I find that no matter the switch button position there is continuity between the spring and the base's aluminum threads. With fresh batteries the light will not switch off, and apppears to be stuck on low beam.

Any idea how to disassemble the base to see if it's repairable? There is a plastic plug in the base, surrounding the spring, with two holes in it such as some devices you can unscrew with snap ring pliers, but I can't get that plug to budge. I’ve tried PB Blaster penetrating fluid around the edges of the plug… assuming it does screw into the base, and drilled the two holes deeper to accept plier prongs better, but the plastic plug still won’t turn.

It was an expensive flashlight, seems well built, and was once sold mainly by Home Depot I think, but the manufacturer may not exist anymore. Apparently the inner aluminum threads have swollen enough from corrosion to make the plug immovable?

Mini Maglite AA: Using the torch head and bub (LED replacement) in a project

Hi, I’m working on a sculpture which I started almost 2 decades ago. It fits a mini maglite torch. For exhibition purposes I’d now like to use the head, the bulb (an LED replacement from eBay) and add a resistor (and wire to a transformer).

Can you tell me how to go about dismantling the body/battery enclosure? The end of that has the two pin socket to take the bulb and must have contacts and I’m guessing a resistor under the cap which I’d like to use. I’m worried to leaver the cap off since it might just snap. Which is the best way in?

All my best,

Thanks, Tom

Flashlight: Tactical flashlight won't work with new batteries. Emitter, driver?

I have four Pro-4 tactical flashlights (two large, two small) that worked well for at least five years. Now they're dead and new batteries aren't the fix. Interiorly, in each, it's clear the emitter is (securely) wired to a driver. How do I determine what component has failed? Are the components replaceable? These flashlight are heavy, milled aluminum worth much more than their original ticket...it seems unthinkable to toss them.

I might add that, sadly, the small emitters weren't designed for easy replacement as they appear to be a permanent part of of a design-specific aluminum ring.

How might I proceed? Happy to provide flashlight ID, disassembly, and repair pics when/if pertinent. I can do basic soldering and my fixit persistence is a local legend.

I found the Pro-4 flashlights at Sam's back in the day. One can find them used on eBay, but it appears they're no longer manufactured. The original promotional copy included:

The Pro-4 Tactical Flashlight with COB Lantern is up to 40 times brighter than ordinary flashlights. It features, aircraft-grade aluminum construction, zoom-in and zoom-out functionality, and five light modes. It provides bright, reliable light in nearly any situation. Use for home, work, outdoors, and emergencies. The Pro-4 Tactical Flashlight with COB Lantern is one of the most powerful flashlights of its size on the market.
