Automotive Computers: Can Automotive Computers be repaired

Computers used in cars and trucks are a common fault and repair item. The costs are high and I can’t get any details on what happens to the old units.

Some vehicles have more than one to control everything from powertrains to electric window and audio consoles.

Can these be repaired?
