The replacement battery in my kit came with a nice, clear, very snug fitting semi rigid plastic sleeve around it. For the life of me I cannot determine if it should be left on the battery or removed. The battery will not slide out of it. Please help. This is my wife's phone and she is giving me the stink eye. I REALLY do not want to leave this thing disassembled on the kitchen table all night long. Thank you for your help with this. I could not find any reference to it in your database.

My phone had stopped charging a few days ago unless the charger was adjusted just right. Now, even after getting it to say the phone is charging, there is no battery increase. I have tried several different box and wire combinations, but that did not work. The only time did it ever seem to charge is when the phone was slightly in use, but it then started to die again even while on the charger. The phone is dead now, and has not been able to get a charge in several hours.

iFixit Soldering: Unable to Power on - "Battery Error - Tool Shutdown"

I received the smart station and was unable to power the device on by holding the power button.

So, I figured the battery must be dead. However, when the device is plugged into power it shows that the battery is full and my charger shows no power draw. It does not display an error message while plugged into a charger.

I found the support article indicating this may be a firmware issue with available hotfix. I plugged into my PC and immediately received the error "Battery Error, Tool Shutdown" I didn't see this one listed in the error code list, which is strange.

I was able to hold down the wheel while plugging in, and was able to update firmware successfully to 1.5.0. No change. Unable to start device; receive error when plugged into a PC. I also successfully updated to 1.3.2 after seeing another forum post regarding the boot loop issues in 1.4.0, but no dice. I've also tried 1.4.1 after seeing there was a hotfix for that issue.

After updating to 1.3.2, it did flash a different error for a moment, but changed back to "Battery Error - Tool Shutdown" before I could read it. I've since updated the firmware back to 1.5.0.

The FixHub updater recognizes the device when it's plugged into my PC and shows 100% charge (sometimes starts at 107% or 51% before correcting to 100%) and accurately reflects the current firmware version in the webapp.

The only other information I can give that's interesting - when updating firmware it will reset, show the full battery, then display the error message on screen while the firmware is still updating.

Got any ideas for a fix? I'd love to use this thing!

i've been messing with my computer for a bit, but for some reason it's just decided to stop showing any display on the screen. at all.

i don't see any reason it would as it just happened while i was messing in the BIOS, and the settings weren't saved yet. and yes, i've attempted to reset the BIOS settings through the manual's jumper method and removing the CMOS battery, but all it did was make the computer confused on startup. i've also attempted to just have it run for a long time in desperation, but no change

edit: before someone asks, No, i don't think the computer isn't booting as i know it is (the hard drives were warm when i opened it up one time), it's just refusing to make an output for no reason

edit edit: i should elaborate: by confused, i mean it's turning off and turning back on in an attempt to properly boot (which it eventually does... still without display output)
