MacBook not turning on after walking in rain.

Hello.

After class I walked in pouring rain for approx 40 seconds just to my bag. I then put my laptop in my bag and went home. I put my bag at home, then went to work for 3 hours. When I returned home and tried booting my laptop it did not turn on. I’m unsure if this is a consequence of the rain or something else.

When plugged in the MagSafe charger the LED is Amber, as if the laptop is charging, however if I hold down Control, Option, right Shift and power for 10 seconds then release (SMC reset I believe) The MagSafe LED goes to Green quickly, then back to Amber, nothing occurs on the screen.

Tomorrow I will be able to take out the battery and have a look internally. Anyone got any suggestions until then?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Was the bag and or other contents wet inside? Did it have a flap to protect the items within it?

No other wet contents dan, bag shouldve protected everything, I was only in the rain for like 1-2 minutes max anyway,

@Christian Douglas - Then its just luck your battery gave up at the same time point. Get a new battery and make sure you have a REAL Apple charger not a cheap knockoff.

I doubt you’ll see anything taking the battery out at this point in time. Maybe you’ll see some wetness. More likely you need to pull the logic board out and inspect the back side. You might see some corrosion or staining.

Given the age of the system you likely need a new battery if you haven’t replaced it yet.
