My Problem

Ringer and volume controls didn't work.

My Fix

The disassembly went smooth with your step-by-step guide. A little problem came up with the removal of the silence switch. A small piece of metal came off of the back of the switch and I had some difficulty figuring out how to reassemble the switch and there were no pictures of the switch. Finally figured it our through trial and error. Thought we had to replace the phone until locating the fix on Google search to your site. A little difficult but very fruitful. Thanks.

My Advice

A few pictures of the switch and a warning that the small metal plate might detach would have been helpful.

My Problem

volume and mute buttons did not work. After initial openning of iPhone, the ribbon control cable was severed.

My Fix

When iFixit says a repair is "Difficult" they are serious. Be sure to have the iFixit Pro tool kit for these type of repairs. If I hadn't ordered it with my replacement part I don't think I could have made the repair.

My Advice

I almost damaged the antenna cable that attaches at the bottom of system board. When putting any part back on make sure it "fits right". If something seems "off", then it probably is. So go over everything to make sure you haven't missed something.

My Problem

I had a broken power button. It means, I could'nt press it anymore. No effect at all. No black out or switch off function.

My Fix

I went step by step throught the nice and very well described repair guide from ifixit.com

Thanks guis for this very very nice manual!!!

My Advice

What I additionali did, was th following. I took a blank sheet A4 paper and drew some filelds named with the step number on it. During dimanteling I placed the removed parts and screws in the specified field. So it was easy to mout back the parts at the correct place.

My Problem

My son dropped my wife's Iphone on flagstones...

Needless to say cracked screen.

My Fix

2 hr. repair step by step instructions were perfect. I found using the magnetic project mat to label the length of screws and certain parts to be a big help!

My Advice

Use the repair guides and take your time. Not a job for a beginner but very rewarding!

Thanks Ifixit

My Problem

Mute switch and minus volumn inop. Figured $20 for parts was worth a try to fix it.

My Fix

Followed instructions, worked well.

Need a magnetized screwdriver to work with the very small screws.

My Advice

Do not short cut instructions.

My Problem

My iPhone would not go into vibrate mode, and I could not adjust ringer or call volume.

My Fix

Pretty well, lots of extremely small screws to take care of, as well as fragile parts. Overall these phones are very modular allowing for a "plug and play" type of fix. Total time to repair was about 30 minutes.

My Advice

Good idea to tape a piece of paper to your table and put circles on there with the steps and place screws in it (ifix download), as well as notes on the orientation of the specific parts

My Problem

I have an iPhone 4 that for some reason stopped ringing. I would slide the vibrate switch to mute and back to ring but it would not vibrate nor would it show up as the bell or bell with a slash through it on the display.

My Fix

I purchased the headphone jack & volume control cable and used the guide to swap out my old cable with the new one. This was no easy feat and took almost two hours. The hardest part was peeling the old cable from the metal switches and transferring the metal switches to the new cable. It was also difficult to remember the correct orientation of the bends in the cable to make it fit snugly.

My Advice

I would recommend taking a photo of the cable before removing it so that you can reference it during reassembly. Thank you iFixit for the part and the guide. My phone works as new again and I am not longer missing calls!

My Problem

Broken Headphone jack, well the jack was still good i hope but the male connector of the headphone broke off in the jack with a stuck volume button. Why did i fix it you asked well it was broke and had no way to listen to my tunes.

My Fix

The initial repair was as smooth as me shaving my cat butters. but it took me two (2) days to complete see that i had to put this gut wrenching surgery on intermission. dissecting was enjoyable when it came down to the assembly that's where things got a bit messy the tiny glitch was getting the silent switch positioned properly with new hardware and holding the mount on tight enough to catch the screws in small spaces and big fingers. Any way got over that bump and it was smooth sailing after that just like butters.

My Advice

Tweezers would be something to look into for those of you who tell your self you don't need them like me... pppssshhhhhhhh yea right. just follow the guide and you should be set
