Nexus One Infographic

March 24, 2010 Hardware, Site News — Miro

The Nexus One deserves more attention. Its hardware is really quite impressive, and yet no one seems to be buying it! Very few people outside the tech world even know that it exists.

To give Google a little boost, we made this lovely infographic: a direct comparison between the Nexus One and the iPhone. Our biggest beef with the Nexus One? There isn’t a parts supply chain for it yet, meaning all repairs have to go through HTC’s overpriced mail-in service. Boo! Hopefully we’ll be able to fix that soon.

  3. The Nexus is TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. You also have to purchase it a FULL PRICE – so it is very costly for most people.

The next iPhone coming out – the 4G – will outstrip the Nexus.

The Nexus has 0.5 GB TOTAL FOR APPLICATION STORAGE. The iPhone has up to 32 GIGABYTES for Application Storage. This is FAR LARGER than the Nexus.

The iPhone has over 190,000+ applications. The Nexus has 20,000 applications. The iPhone is FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR BETTER than the Nexus when it comes to capabilities and customization as represented by apps. You can do far more with an iPhone than a Nexus.

The iPhone has NUMEROUS 3rd Party Accessories. For example, one can turn the iPhone into a Tom-Tom GPS with mount and external GPS antenna. One can turn the iPhone into a universal IR remote for TV, Audio, Cable Box, etc.

The iPhone has iTunes and the iTunes Store. You can synchronize to your Mac and PC – you can’t do this with the Nexus. You can have a central place to download apps, music, movies, PODCASTS, free University Educational videos, and order accessories, etc. etc. The Nexus has nothing.

All in all, the iPhone gives you a whole universe to play in, a whole lifestyle. The Nexus just gives you the phone.

    The iPhone wins.

  4. iPhone RAM may be 256MB vs 512MB for NExus but
the entire 8/16/32GB of Memory in the iphone is accessible by the Apps – not on the Nexus or other Andriod systems.

  6. The Nexus is a cute DIY phone for people who enjoy writing their own personal apps or who don’t need a phone for a lot of apps (500 MB versus @32 GB). That storage capacity for apps is the difference between a motorized scooter and a car. And the phone is for people who rather do things like replace a battery instead of using it for work, travel or being productive – the nexus phone is a nice hobby phone – nothing wrong with that but just like you don’t confuse renting a scooter to ride around on vacation with a real car for work when you get back home.

  7. There is NO need to replace the iPhone battery. Just get an external battery. There are tons of external batteries for the iPhone that allow you to run it however long you want. The ultimate battery will let you run it for a whole month straight – 24-hours a day.

  9. This sort of comparison is a good example why it is not selling. Unless you get your head around the idea of usability you will never understand why.

  15. This is an interesting and apparently balanced comparison. One thing – since weight is a bad thing and not a good thing, there should be weight-cost product shown instead of cost per weight. It’s a phone, not a sack of potatoes.

  27. Wow, a lot of you are confusing “MANY MORE APPZ!!1one” with quality in the iPhone. I hate to break it to you, little Apple sheep, but you are wrong. Just because the iPhone has tons of apps doesn’t make it better. I’ve used both and they are both good for different things; and I especially love it when someone who has never seen an iPhone 4G says how much better it “will be.” Please, take the apple out of your ass and come back to reality.

  33. JAMES – YOU ARE WRONG: SEE BELOW.

The Nexus is TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. You also have to purchase it a FULL PRICE – so it is very costly for most people.
    – THE NEXUS CAN BE PURCAHSED UNLOCKED AT FULL PRICE OR TO A CARRIER FOR CHEAPER JUST LIKE THE IPHONE

The Nexus has 0.5 GB TOTAL FOR APPLICATION STORAGE. The iPhone has up to 32 GIGABYTES for Application Storage. This is FAR LARGER than the Nexus.
    – THE NEXUS IS EXPANDABLE MEMORY VIA MICRO SIM SO STORAGE SPACE IS UNLIMITED.

    – THE IPHONE HAS NOW IR AND THEREFORE CAN NOT BE USED AS A REMOTE. NEXUS CAN. THE IPHONE ALLOWS APPROVED APPLE APPS ONLY. NEXUS DOES NOT RESTRICT DEVELOPERS LIKE APPLE DOES. NEXUS INCLUDES TURN BY TURN GPS SO NO NEED FOR $100 TOM TOM.

WRONG AGAIN. NEXUS HAS OWN APP STORE.

All in all, the iPhone gives you a whole universe to play in, a whole lifestyle. The Nexus just gives you the phone.

    The iPhone FAILS
