    Lachie, to fix your ipod, you need to turn it off by holding the power button until the slider appears. Then slide the slider and power it off. Once it is powered off, press and hold the home button while connecting it to your computer. iTunes wil see your ipod is in recovery mode, and ask you to restore it. You can then restore from a backup, and your device will be just like you left it, minus the password.

    Simply hold down on your lock button until the slide to turn off slider appears. Slide this and your device will turn off. While it is turned off, connect it to your computer while holding the home button. The connect to itunes screen will apear and you will now be able to restore it in itunes.
