Answer to: PC fans always running
Turn your computer off, and put on an Anti-static wrist strap to make sure you don't accidentally damage your computer. Look for some screws near the back of your case (possibly thumb screws). Unscrew them, and take the side panel(s) off of your computer case. Use some compressed air and possibly a pair of tweezers to remove as much dust as possible from the inside of your computer case. Be careful to not touch or scrape any of the components inside with the tweezers. Removing as much dirt and dust as possible will likely not make the computer any faster, but it should make it quieter. -
Answer to: Can you put the new iPad 3 battery in the iPad 2?
In the words of Miro, our main man in charge of teardowns, "Probably not." He points out that you could theoretically hook an iPad up to a car battery with enough tinkering and fiddling, but the feasibility of it working is very low. We believe roughly it's the same story for connecting batteries between different iPads. While you may be able to get it to work, they just weren't designed to interface with one another. -
Answer to: Metallic taste when using track pad
I don't think it's normal to experience tasting flavors from simply touching an object. That said, if you are touching an aluminum case and you lick your fingers afterwards, it's possible that you could be licking up some aluminum dust. Either way, I wouldn't recommend licking your fingers or your laptop. -

Answer to: MacBook Air 11.6" Screw Size
The bit you are referring to is not the same as the "star" shape screwdriver in our 54 Piece Bit Driver kit. iFixit is currently not a vendor for the 5 point security torx screws seen in the 2010 MB Air teardown. To clarify the other answers here, vendors for that bit are required to do have customers do the following: "In order to purchase these bits you will need to sign a letter stating that you are an authorized serviceperson for the equipment where TORX Plus® tamper-resistant screws are used." From a rough search, it seems that many vendors within the US (such as the one mayer linked) do not actually enforce this rule, which would make the bit easier to acquire, and somewhat nullify the intended security aspects. Answer to: DSi Replacement Housing Service?
iFixit actually does not perform any in-house repair services. We maintain our answers forum for users to exchange knowledge about how to increase the service life of their devices, as well as creating teardowns and guides for popular devices. It looks like a user created this guide that might help you though. -
Answer to: How to get Laptop to lay 180 deg. instead of ~140 deg.?
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but if I'm understanding you correctly, could you just prop up one side of your laptop by putting an object underneath half of it, so that the laptop rests at whatever angle you like? If you're referring to the angle of the screen on your laptop relative to the body of the laptop, I've also always solved this problem by just propping up my laptop with something, rather than trying to loosen the hinges on the display to let it have a wider swing angle. -
Answer to: Replacing iPhone 4 rear panel

The photos aren't failing to show up, there just aren't any photos - no one ever uploaded any, even though the text of the guide talks about the pictures. As you're doing the upgrade yourself though, snap some pictures, edit the steps here, and upload your pictures!
