i didn't think a g3 would even run 10.5 (mine won't) so that may be the problem. try 10.4 and see how that works. j -

i was given a g3 ibook with a dark screen but i can see images in the screen faintly. the screen was replaced by the previous owner. does this sound like the inverter? it seems like it isn't getting enough power... -

go to apple, preferences, sound and see if mute box is checked by the level indicator. i've had both my powerbook and ibook do that, box was checked. j

iBook G4 12" 800 MHz-1.2 GHz Hard Drive Replacement
so i got my new hard drive in but when i used the disc to start and try to install operating system, it stalls on the window asking where to install. there is no hard drive icon.
