Re: Is a New Airport Card The Answer To My Problems? Jul 31 @ 11:32 AM
Problem solved! I just replaced the Airport card in my MacBook (Core Duo 2GHz). That solved my MacBook's inability to see and/or hold a wireless signal unless it was a few feet away from the router, which problem occurred suddenly a few weeks ago (I didn't have any network connectivity problems before that). I replaced my router with an Airport Extreme base station and I also tried a myriad non-hardware fixes/tweaks suggested on various sites. Nothing worked... until I replaced the card.

The guide is fantastic and the Airport Extreme Card upgrade took me less than an hour to complete. It wasn't very difficult. Some pointers: read the entire guide before undertaking the project; keep the screws from each step separated in labeled containers; buy a spludger if you don't already have one; keep a tweezer handy for the tiny screws; and take your time separating the keyboard from the computer so as to not crack/break the plastic bezel.
