MacBook Pro 3,1 SSD Issues... Jul 14 @ 8:41 AM
I picked up a used macbook about a month ago, works great except it occasionally it will get in a spell where it will shutdown suddenly, but it will do it sometimes right after I turn it on and other times after I've been using it the entire day, so it does not seem heat related, I've been monitoring the heat of the system and it doesn't seem abnormally hot and has happened right after turning it on.
One thing I have noticed during a particular spell it was having, if I pressed down on the left side around the power connector (e.g., lifting the it from that side), it would shut down immediately. Also this would happen if I lifted it up with hand underneath the back. It seemed like a shorting kind of thing to me, but the odd part is it is so hit and miss! And when it goes down, ALL power goes off completely.
Any thoughts? I heard of some shorting issues people have had when pressing on the top case and it bending to some extent and causing a short, any other ideas? What might be done to fix it?
Thanks,
Kenny.
MacBook optical drive replacement Jun 13 @ 6:51 AM
I have a macbook that had issues ejecting discs. I thought it might be a drive issue and found a replacement from a water damaged MacBook and replaced the drive, only to have the same issues.
How important is it to have the lower bracket so that it slides a bit? The repair guide says it should slide a bit and I was wondering what purpose this had. Also, how hard is it to line up the slot in the case with the drive? Should this "just work" or is there an art to it?
Thanks,
Kenny.

Re: where did i go wrong with my hard drive installation? Jul 14 @ 8:55 AM
I upgraded my hard drive in my MacBook to a 320 GB, 7200 RPM drive as well, have you learned anything else or replaced the hard drive cable? I have had some sudden shutdown issues, but cables all see good...

Removing either corner piece was not required, the display will tilt up to allow removal of the LCD and the corners do nothing but route cables.
