Re: larger HDD in Ipod 5th Gen Jun 6 @ 8:31 AM
Quote from Tobn:
Hi - I recently upgraded my iPod 5th Generation (originally 60GB Hitachi HDD) with the new Toshiba 120GB 1.8" HDD. It worked great until I dropped the iPod on the floor :( I now bought the 160GB Samsung HDD from private. It was supposed to be new - when I got it it had a label "refurbished" on it but was still originally wrapped in an antistatic shrink-wrap. I thought refurbished means as good as new. When I finally installed it into my 5th Gen iPod the HDD started spinning but the only thing that appeared on the screen was the "sad ipod icon" and not the prompt telling me to connect the ipod to Itunes and have it restored as it did when I installed the 120GB HDD. Does anybody know whether the 160GB HDDs do not work with the older 5Gen logic boards? Or is the HDD I got simply broken? Thanks for a short answer Tobi
Thanks for the Post okay what Gen Logic Board do you Originally have the 5th gen or the 5.5 Gen Logic Board? If you are using a Samsung Hard Drive they have Different Hard Drive Connectors like for each one Samsuns to Samsung, Toshiba to Toshiba, and so on... Make sure that you have the correct connector for the Hard Drive, and also make sure the Logic Board is a 6th Gen and Not a 5.5 because there will be problems there also. Please ifixit.com should have replacement for you if not we will be glad to help you out to get that going for you.

Re: Dropped my iPhone, GSM not working Jun 6 @ 8:25 AM
Thanks for the Post
Quote from npx:
I recently dropped my iPhone (1st Gen 8gb) to the ground and now the phone function is not working. Everything else on the phone works fine. When I put my sim-card in it actually connects, I see the provider name in the title and I get 1 to 4 bars (not very stable, unlike before). Sometimes it drops out and says No Service. Even if I am (or appear to be) connected I always get "Error performing request: Unknown Error" when I try to make a call, and then it drops to No Service. I can't receive incoming calls. It's funny that it seems to find the network at all, though. I've tried several sim-cards to verify. If I gently shake the phone I can hear a sound which indicates something might be loose inside. Silent ticking sound. I bought it about 1½ year ago from the US, which means I have no warranty/support, a risk well worth taking at that time since the phone was not launched in my country then. I've been googling this issue but didn't come up with anything, so I emailed the biggest iPhone refurb/fixing company in the area and their reply was "Uh, never heard of it, probably not worth fixing... not interested". Anyone have experience with this and if it's possible to fix, you think it's worth it? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the Post. It is Really Hard to Tell especially if you have something inside that has become loose. You have GSM Wires or they are called WI-Fi Cables they are Glued down, and 1 of them might of come apart or something else. The Best Solution is to take it in, and have it opened for a Diagnostic to see what the problem is and the cost for repairs. As for iPhones we charge a Flat Fee of $29.00 that is Paid up front for a Diagnostic Test and we will tell you exactly what is wrong and the cost. Check with ifixit.com first to see if they will do this for you if not please send us an email at affordablerepairparts@gmail.com. We will be glad to take a look and to see what you need to get your GSM working proper again.

Re: 2 1st gen iPhones, touchscreen bad, other won't power up or charge Jun 1 @ 8:59 AM
Thanks for your Message ICGUY,
Okay as for Docking Stations, Car Chargers and thing like that for the iPODs, and iPhones we have seen so many come through the Repair Shop and they draw to much current to the Boards and OverCharge everything inside them ruining them. Stay away from these unless you have a iPod or iPhone that you just don't care about they will ruin your device in a Matter of Minutes. As for the Digitizer+LCD Screen Replacement it is really worth it for a GSM Phone that you can use. Especailly they are not producing the Parts for the iPhone 1st Gen anymore and they will be up there in price so hold on to it and have it repaired it will be worth wild later on. It will be a collectors item in the Near Future because that is Apple's first iPhone!!

My Ipod 5th gen 80gb will be recognized by windows when I plug it, in disk mode, into my computer but it won't be recognized in itunes until it resets itself and disconnects. It is also giving me a sad ipod icon when i try to turn it on normally. After it resets and is still connected to the computer it will say please wait very low battery, even though I have let it charge for several hours. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the Reply!! Where abouts do you get your Music from? itunes or Cds? If you are Having the Please wait Low Battery that means you have a Bad Hard Drive meaning Replacement. That Repair should only take 1 Hour or Less. Check with ifixit.com if they have a 30gb Hard Drive or what ever your GB is like a 30/60/80GB and so on and get that replaced. We can have that replaced for you, but Check with ifixit.com 1st.

Sorry to hijack this thread, I was just wondering if your ipod is in the same condition as my daughters. Her ipod is stuck in the slide to lock. Ipod said that it has water damage. You can see it restore, and hook up to computer, computer is responding by showing serial number etc., but just won't come on. Another repair place said digitizer, he was going to charge me $49 just to look at it, and then 129 to replace the digitizer. Is there a way I can fix this thing?
Thanks for the Message,
If it is the iPhone 2g the Part is $179.99 Plus Installation, now if you have the 3g it is a little Cheaper as for the 3g if the Digitizer is not responding you can replace that 1 Part. Now if you have the 2g iPhone you have to replace the Digitizer/Glass, and also the LCD Screen as they are Fuzed together as 1 Piece, and not seperate. If ifixit.com has the Part for you then see if they will do the Necessary Repairs for it or if not we will be glad to assit you in the Matter for the Repairs. Please Email us at Affordablerepairparts@gmail.com but check with ifixit.com 1st as this is their Host.

Thanks I will check it out
Thanks for the Posting as for the Docking Station that you are Using their is your #1 Problem!!! As for Docking Stations, Car Chargers, and FM Transmittors I have seen a lot of iPODs come through the Shop with Sound Problems. Main problem no sound out of Both Ear Pieces? The Problem the Amps Mico Processor on the Logic Board is Blown. Have you ever went to a Rock Concert and they Have their Sound turned up so much and all of a Sudden their Amp Shuts off or over Blows the Circuit resulting needing a New Amp? Well in your Situation it is your Logic Boards Amp on the Board which is called the Sound Processor. By Cracking the Volume up on the iHome your iPOD cannot handle it and it has Blown your Amp on your Board.
MEANING:::Logic Board Replacement?
Check to see if ifixit.com has a 30gb Photo Logic Board if not you are welcomed to Purchase from us and have this Repaired by ifixit.com or by us Affordable E-Tech Repair Parts.

Also the Logic Board and Hard Drives for iPODs are the Most Costly to fix without these your iPOD will not Run!!

Re: larger HDD in Ipod 5th Gen Jun 8 @ 6:34 AM
Thanks for the Message Tobn,
As for the 6th Gen Classic Boards we sell everything Brand New!!! Not refurbished, or Used at all unless like the 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen iPOD Original. As for the 6th Gen Logic Board the Cost is up there as much as the Hard Drives and being this is the Main Piece the Brain of the iPOD. Without this your iPOD would not turn on. Very important piece. Okay for the Cost is $115.00 that includes Free Shipping to you also. Please check with ifixit.com first to see if they have the part. If not please Email me at Affordablerepairparts@gmail.com and I will be very Happy to take care of this for you. Now do you need installation? As for this Board it is a Difficult procedure and not like the 5th gen or 5.5 gen Logic Board. On this you can easily bend it in two if not careful.
Please let me know
