Just to clarify, there are 2 revisions of the iPhone: the 1st Gen iPhone without 3G internet capability, and the 2nd Gen iPhone 3G with 3G internet capability. The 2nd Gen iphone 3G is a fairly easy repair with available parts. The 1st Gen iphone is much more difficult to open up, and the part you need is extremely difficult to come across.
My daughter dropped her 1st Gen iPhone and cracked the glass screen. The phone still works normally but I'd like to replace the glass. Apple says the repair costs as much as a new phone. I'll buy the tools required and go for it, but where do I find the part and step by step directions? Thank you. What a wonderful site and service!
