PowerBook 1.67 15" wants a new hard drive, but what kind and. . . . Sep 14 @ 5:11 PM
Hi!
I just finished intsalling a new dc inboard (frin iFixit) in one Graphite 466 and a new display in another. The one with the new dc inboard only has a 10g hard drive which sounds like a tractor. Will the original 80G hard drive in my PowerBook work in the Graphite? The 80G is good but filling up.
Just for inspiration I am a 68 year old granny and swear by iFix it.
I will be replacing my own hard drive which looks a sight easier than the dc inboard.
Thanks iFixit,
Connie

Phooey! I will continue with 1G. I just bought a second and now don't need it.
Sheesh!
Thanks so much for your reply,
Connie

Aren't you adorable!
At the moment I have my beloved powerbook, 2 graphite 466 clamshells, an emac and a 12" ibook g3 (on loan to my son who's macbook is a bit on the fritz). Why? I dunno. I like tinkering and seeing if I can make them work.
I am looking for a small, cheap hard drive for the noisy Graphite. I doubt if I will ever use it but someone might. My other graphite is being saved as a collector's item. It's very cool with a 100G HD. It's a back up an used to back up files.
It's a wonderful idea to enclose the 80G from the powerbook when I swap it out.
Say hi to your mom for me. I daresay you are also cut from the same cloth.
hugs to you both,
c

The link is not working any longer for hard drives. Could you update it. I also want to upgrade my PowerBook 1.67 15" hard drive. But, I wonder if the 80 Gig in it now would fit in my Graphite 466 clamshell?
I just used iFixit to replace the display in one Graphite and replace the dc in board on another one. It was wonderful!!!! And, I'm 68 a 68 year old granny.
Powerbook 1.5 15" ALUM not reading lower ram slot Oct 29 @ 1:35 PM
I had a 512 in lower, 1G in upper. I noticed I was only reading 1G in upper, lower read empty. The lower slot won't read no matter how many times I re-seat it. I know the ram sticks are good. It read when I took it to an apple dealer but when I got it home it was reading empty again. Is it a big deal to replace the memory slots?
Any suggestions? Can a slot take a 2 gig memory stick?
Thanks,
Connie
